Etching 303 to 430F Weldment, GTAW

(OP)
We have autogenously welded these two metals.  I want to evaluate the weld interface, penetration and HAZ.  My question is what chemical etchants do I use??  I have heard Aqua regia, HNO3 and Alcohol or a mixture of HNO3-HCl and H20?  Which one or other would work the best?

RE: Etching 303 to 430F Weldment, GTAW

We use HNO3+HCl in water for general stainless macroetching.  Roughly 1:1:1, but if you are looking at unannealed autogenous welds you might want it less concentrated, like 1:1:3.
