Toroidal motor

(OP)
I have seen a product with a toroidal motor, however I do not understand what exactly this is. I understand toroid is donut shaped, but Im not sure how this motor works. Please let me know.

RE: Toroidal motor

It appears that this is another name for a Slot-less Brushless Motor.  These windings have an overall toroid shape.

RE: Toroidal motor

reink,
You should do an internet search for "toroid motors".  You will see everything from the ancient "gramme ring" generator/motor to the "Low-Cost Space Transportation Using Electron Spiral Toroid (EST) Propulsion" system.  There are also those that believe in "free energy" that have their own views about this type of motor.  I'm not sure what you have seen, but I'm sure that you will be able to come up with something.

RE: Toroidal motor

toroidal motor, sounds interesting! Clyde, better post a link on that context.
