(OP)
I'm having trouble determining the value Kq for calculating shear loading on masts.

BS8100-1-G.5.5 showes a ratio fq which has to be calculated from the Fq/F.

It states that "Fq is the mean shear load carried by the bracings at level zq" and that "F is the mean shear load, normal to the tower, on the tower height, H, at level zq".

I've tried using PTW as the shear and then assuming that 75% of shear is taken by the bracings. I'm not getting satisfactory results.

Is anyone fanmilier with BS8100?
