a complementry book ab UBC97

(OP)
I am looking for a complementry book which makes it easier to
understand UBC 97.
I have found following three books. I have to choose one from them. I
woud like to know your opinion on them.

1st book
Uniform Building Code: Code Applications Manual (Hardcover)
Product Details
Publisher: Intl Code Council; Ringbound edition (May 1997)
Language: English
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1884590624/qid=1152089403/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-6535791-8477407?s=books&v=glance&n=283155

2nd book
Handbook to the Uniform Building Code: An Illustrative Commentary
(Handbook to the Uniform Building Code) (Hardcover)

Publisher: Intl Code Council (September 1995)

ISBN: 1884590608

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1884590608/qid=1152088976/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-6535791-8477407?s=books&v=glance&n=283155

3rd book
Introduction to the Uniform Building Code
A work book that provides an overview of the basics of the UBC

If you know a better one, let me know.

RE: a complementry book ab UBC97

I am familair with items #1 & #2 above for the 91 UBC.  If you are looking for an understanding of the structural provisions I think item #2 would be better.

Probably the best person to ask is some one who now works for IBC who use to work for UBC.
