Second moment of area of a section

Second moment of area of a section

(OP)
In NX3, how do I get the second moment of area for a cross section through a part?

For example, a beam which is a C section.  What is the second moment of area and principle axis so that the numbers can be used in the beam bending equation?

Thanks

RE: Second moment of area of a section

If you have a sample of the cross-section of the part of interest, go to Analysis/Advanced Mass Properties/Area Using Curves... and select the appropriate method of defining the profile of the section.  Once defined and processed you should be able to get the values that you need.
