Jacketted tank
Jacketted tank
(OP)
Can anyone help me with cooling jacket design for an atomspheric agitated tank?
Tank size: 46"(dia)x96" height
capacity: 2500 liters
Material of construction: SS316
Shell thickness: 8mm
Tank content: 2000 liters of dilute NaOH solution (0.05 kg/cubic meter)at 80 deg C
Tank agitated by turbine mixer inserted off center from top.
Cooling Fluid: Water at 8 deg C
Batch process, Content to be cooled to 60 deg C in about 30 minutes.
I need to calculate surface area required for cooling, cooling water flow rate.
I need to specify how heat transfer coefficient is arrived in addition to formulae used for every calculation.
Please help... :)

I conted 25 books found from US$ 29 to US$ 382. There are two versions out on the market. The original hardback, which can be quite expensive, and an international softback version, which is very economical. There are also people out there that try to scam you by saying it's the hardback, but you get the softback.
Good luck,

I have a link to this site: http://www
That sells a spreadsheet/program for calculating what you are looking and some more (i think).

Cooling water flow rate is 4000 l/hr. Content to be cooled can be assumed as water too, agitated with 150 mm dia turbine agitator.

A ballpark figure for the overall heat transfer coefficient, U, could be
800 W/(m2K).
