Partial saturated flow

Partial saturated flow

Partial saturated flow

(OP)
Hi,everybody!
In recent studies ,I found that mechanica-hydraulic coupling problems are hard to converge ,especially with the partial saturation seepage considered at the same time.In the first analysis step ,when the gravity is loaded ,the solution seems to be divergent ,and the procedure will terminate. Not to mention the engineering loads to be applied.I don't know if there are some techniques to better the convergence and make the solution complete.
Any constructive advice or discussion will be appreciated!
   Thank you!

RE: Partial saturated flow

Hi Lubocjw,
I have the same mechanica-hydraulic coupling problem.
In the end, have you found a solution?
How you have resolved this problem?

Thanks

RE: Partial saturated flow

Make sure guys that you specify the correct initial time step

RE: Partial saturated flow

I have tried to run a simple problem (one element) specifying the correct initail time step for partial saturation seepage (Consolidation Step)and I start to face the same problem. I do not know why the convergence is  very poor when simulating partial saturation seepage even after Changing the Solver to unsymmetric. Plese update me if reach an improvement in this issue

RE: Partial saturated flow

i had problems with my coupled mech/hydraulic model for long time, and then after lots of modifications it converged.

Hi,hamadadf
I have resovled my problem in july and then forgot to login the forum. I appreciate your advice.
