We have searched the net and have found nothing solid concernig a standard for document numbering and client identification. Some idea's and examples would be highly appreciated?

Checking the PIP's and IHS for "diagram number" I too find nothing.

Numbering systems for PFDs, P&IDs, sketches and drawings are very often client preference.  Is this for a grass roots facility that you are setting up a new drawing system for?

I'm out of town at the moment.  Let me talk to my piping group when I get back, they typically handle this rather than myself on some of the more typical ways.
