Solidworks Error???? Object is not connected to server

Solidworks Error???? Object is not connected to server

Solidworks Error???? Object is not connected to server

(OP)
I have been trying to save an assembly that I am working on but it is giving me an error that my VAR has never heard of before.  I do not want to lose the work so any suggestions are welcomed.  I have already tried to save to my server as well as my hard drive even tried "save as copy".  In addition my "save" and "save as" icons are now greyed out.

The error reads "Object is not connected to the server"  with the red button and a white "x" inside.  Sw error box.  I have included a picture of the error as well.

RE: Solidworks Error???? Object is not connected to server

I've run into this problem, when SolidWorks locks up trying to exit design tables, or excel tables placed on a drawing.

I used to have to terminate SolidWorks, losing all work.  I discovered that bringing up Windows Task Manager and terminating the Excel Process frees up SolidWorks, though edits to the table are lost.

The SECOND time that happens, usually I get the error you see.  The only recourse I've found is terminating SolidWorks.

Save frequently.

Editing Design Tables in a New Window also helps avoid that problem. Also I recommend not having Excel currently running when you click Edit Design Table. It just seems to be more dependable that way.

You guys are correct.  After calling my VAR yesterday he said he would look into it and give me a call back.  The call back I received (about 15 minutes later) was actually from someone at SolidWorks in the tech dept.  Was I suprised, yes.  He did state the same thing, that it is caused by an issue with the design table.  Unfortunately SW eventually crashed completely and I did lose some work, not much, but some.  So, I agree with you "Save, Save, & Save" your work on a regular basis.

Thanks for the input,
