how to open a HydroCAD 8 file with HydroCAD 7 software?

(OP)
I just received a HydroCAD 8 file from an other company. I contacted them, to ask them to save their file as HydroCAD 7 or to Export it in an older HydroCAD version. They could not find a way to do it. Since I do not have HydroCAD 8 and I can not 'play' with it my self to find a solution I would be very grateful if somebody can tell me how to open this file.

RE: how to open a HydroCAD 8 file with HydroCAD 7 software?

Short answer: You will need to use HydroCAD-8 to open the file.  Please see www.hydrocad.net/orderup.htm

Long answer: In general, a file created by HydroCAD-8 will contain new features that are unknown to HydroCAD-7.  When possible, HydroCAD automatically writes the file in the earliest possible format.  However, many new features (such as a custom reach cross-section) cannot be translated backwards to an earlier version.  For details please see www.hydrocad.net/filecompatibility.htm
