Forming Tool config. (louver)

Forming Tool config. (louver)

Forming Tool config. (louver)

(OP)
I think I already know the answer, but.....is it possible
to switch between configs of a form tool after insertion?

RE: Forming Tool config. (louver)

Unfortunately you cannot edit the configuration of the forming tool once you place it on your part. The only time you can choose a configuration is when placing it in your model. You will have to delete the forming tool feature and re-insert the configuartion of the one you want. This would be a good ER to submit. I know I'm going submit one for this issue today.

GB,
That option is seems to be unavailable for forming tools.
All I can figure is to open the louver and save to the
desired config before insertion.

RE: Forming Tool config. (louver)

My bad...misunderstood that application and am probably not smart enough to have answered anyway 2thumbsup

GB...every little bit helps... ;o)

JK, is there supposed to be a prompt for a config before insertion...???

RE: Forming Tool config. (louver)

Actually I got mixed up. I don't think forming tools can have configurations. I will check this out after a meeting I have right now. I know that the configurations work for features and design library parts. Talk to you in a few...

RE: Forming Tool config. (louver)

You should be able to make configs of the part. Each config varying the feature dims of the Louvre ... same as any other feature.

cheers

RE: Forming Tool config. (louver)

You don't have to delete the forming tool feature, just supress it and create a different config of a different forming tool.  But you would have to insert different tools for as many configs as you want.

RE: Forming Tool config. (louver)

After trying several times forming tools do not allow configurations. Only Design library features can have configurations in which you can select if they are available. Submit an ER to solidworks. If enough of us request this it may get put into a future release.
