Superpave

Superpave

Superpave

(OP)
Does anyone have a feel for how much superpave is going for?  Never had to use it before.  I have a wearing course of 1 1/2 inches and the base course of 11 1/2 inches of superpave each.

Also anyone heard of cathodic protection on a water main pipe?

Thanks for any information you may have.

RE: Superpave

Don't know about superpave.
Here in No. CA, they do have CP on water mains in some areas.

RE: Superpave

Call any DOT maintenance or construction office in your state and they will be able to rattle off a price per ton for whatever mix you want.

RE: Superpave

Depends on what mix, how much, where you are, etc.  We go from $25 per ton complete to above $50 for piecework.  Need more details...

RE: Superpave

The local water utility in Anchorage requires sacrificial anode cathodic protection of water mains (ductile iron), and for cast/ductile iron services.

RE: Superpave

Florida DOT 2005 state-wide average prices are at this link:

http://www.dot.state.fl.us/estimates/TRNSPORT/ItemAverage2005.pdf

Superpave asphalt is item no. 334 on page 5.  Optional bases are in item no. 285 on page 4.  Base group 15 is 9" thick B-12.5 (the thickest asphalt base available).  You building a runway?

LCruiser has a good point. Work volume, accessibiltiy and production rates all figure in on price.

Can't help you on the cathodic protection.  Mostly non-corrosive soils in Fla.

Cheers

RE: Superpave

I'm sure it has to do with Asphalt content also, since Ashalt cement or Performance Grade Asphalt cement as its called here in Pa. is a petroleum based product, price adjustments due to crude oil costs need to be calculated.

And SuperPave uses the (esal) count designation aka. estamated single axle load for which the pavement will be used, hence a low volume roadway would have less traffic on it and would require the most ashpalt content and a high volume Interstate would have the least amount of asphalt content.
