Broken View on Drawing question

Broken View on Drawing question

Broken View on Drawing question

(OP)
I have a broken view on a drawing and I was wondering if it is possible to create the isometric shown as a broken view as well.  Basically you would see the inside of the pipe after breaking it.  I have included a link to the picture for your reference.

Thanks in advance,
Bloodclot

RE: Broken View on Drawing question

No, you can't break an Iso view. I have turned in an Enh. Req.
If you turn one in also, maybe it can get fixed.

I will turn one in as well.  Maybe we could have a sticky thread for enhancement requests.  This way we could have a ton of people turn them in for the exact same issues????  Example -  I could post a message stating that I have turned in an ER for an "xxxxxxx" issue everyone else please do so as well.

RE: Broken View on Drawing question

What I would do in that situation is to make a configuration of the assembly/part with the cut in it. Then you could show your iso view with the cut.

What are you trying to achieve in the isometriclly broken view that you could not show in a section view or broken out view? You can add a break to the isometric view but you are not going to get your desired results of seeing inside the pipe.

Breaking the view is just that, it only breaks what is shown in the view and spaces it apart at a specified distance, it does not actually make a physical cut in the part like you want to achieve. The only solution is to do as I have suggested above.

Jon

RE: Broken View on Drawing question

As a workaround you will have to create a config with an "Assy cut extrude", removing a section from the middle, to use for the isometric view.

As for the "common" ER threaad, it has been suggested before but never took off. Probably because it turned into a bitching  thread instead and because not everyone wants the same thing when it comes to ERs. e.g. I would not submit an ER for the above, because it might take away resources from other more important (to me) ERs.

But there are a lot of new members, so maybe it will work this time. noevil

cheers

jksolid - I did previously consider your suggestion as an option but I just needed the iso BV for clarity on the dwg.  Thanks for your input.

CorBlimeyLimey - I understand your point about resources.  However, no matter what the ER issue is, SW will ultimately prioritize and decide which ER's will be implemented.  At least if everyone throws their ER's in one place we can all pick and choose which ones to follow with ER's of our own.  Example, if you sent in an ER for something that I have not come across yet but I feel it would help me to have that functionality in SW, I would be more than willing to send in an ER for the same issue with the hopes that by the time I need that functionality it may be implemented.  My 0.02.
