Hi, quick question.. (or maybe not quick but I'll ask anyway)

we put in pdmworks several years ago and had severe changes in the engineering department.  The vault is not being used properly and we're in quick a mess with software.

I'd like to delete everything but the project structure and start anew.  Is there an easy way to do this other than tediously taking ownership and deleting?

RE: PDMWORKS 2006 SP0.0

Do you really want to delete all files and the history of them?

yes I do

RE: PDMWORKS 2006 SP0.0

In PDMW Help, search for "delete". It tells you how to delete a project.

Thank you for your post, however I guess my question was not clear enough.

I do not want to remove the structure/projects.  I just want to remove all parts/assemblies from the vault

These are old parts that are not valid anymore and the engineers have consolidated all their parts outside of the vault and would like to start checking things in properly.

In order to avoid future confusion I would like to remove all parts and assemblies from the vault.

If I deleted the folders in the vaultdata folder then run a validate vault at start up, would this work?

Keep in mind, I want to delete all parts and assemblies, I do not need to keep anything except for projects, users and settings

Not sure, have not tried it.
What I have done in the past is have all users release ownership. Then I login as Admin, take ownership of everything, then delete them. Takes a little time, but was the cleanest for me and no errors.

If the project structur is set up outside the vault the way you want it I would delete everything projects and all then do a bulk check in and select create subfolders option.

RE: PDMWORKS 2006 SP0.0

To delete all files from a specific project, do the following:

1) Highlight on an individual project, then choose "Take Ownership" and choose to take ownership of the children as well.  After that, you will own all files in that project.

2)  Select all files in the project using the CTRL or SHIFT keys, as you would in Windows Explorer.

3)  Choose "Delete / Rollback."
