Dear All:
I was requested to build a structure to bubble compressed air in a water stream. Before I go straight away to build this, I would like to make a rough assessment of the running costs of the installation in terms of compressed air consumption.
Can anybody tell me how to calculate how much air passes trough a hole of let's say 1/8" at 1 bar or direct me to any website?
Furthermore, this installation forecasts a pipe with several holes along but the air supply is only one at the end of the pipe. Is there any way to check how the flow rate will vary? In my understanding the holes next to the air source will have more air than the last ones in the pipe.

If the pipe is planned to be a manifold with various holes along its length, the following may be of some help: thread378-53583.
For "non-controlled" air flows to various consumers along the manifold, the general approach is to make the pressure (+ friction) drop in the header negligible when compared with that of each outlet.
