LeMans rules

LeMans rules

LeMans rules

(OP)
The relevant regulations:

Gasoline Displacement Limit 4000cc (turbocharged)
Diesel Displacement Limit 5500cc
Gasoline restrictor 2x 32.4mm (area of 1,648mm^2)
Diesel restrictor 2x 39.9mm (area of 2,499mm^2)
Gasoline boost pressure 7.3psig
(4.0 liter engine)
Diesel boost pressure 28psig
(5.5 liter engine)

I'd say the rules certainly were written to favor the diesels.
