ScadaPro problem

ScadaPro problem

ScadaPro problem

(OP)
I am experiencing some difficulties while setting up our measuring system. I am using ScadaPro software and Datascan modules. It all seems to work well up until the point where I configure the calculator channels. I made sure I tested the system with every change I made, and it all worked fine until I got to C5. Then all of a sudden, the DataScan channels just died. The analog, digital and calculator channels (except C5 which is connected to a DataScan channel) all work fine. When I start over with a new configuration, it all works again.

Does anyone have any idea as to what is causing this?

RE: ScadaPro problem

I am hesitant to offer a somewhat indirect (impertinent?) comment. So I will be very brief. A few years ago my company purchased licenses for ScadaPro, and we assumed it would perform as advertised. We encountered a number of simple problems that Measuresoft could not resolve. The salesman then proposed that Measuresoft would build several custom modules ($100,000 plus) that would become essentially the entire application. We had assumed that ScadaPro would enable us to easily create the application; but this, it turned out, was not even a remote possibility.

ScadaPro may have matured and be quite good today. I apologize if this is reply is not helpful.

One comment that may be of general interest to some: I have found generic SCADA software to be very disappointing. We wasted a considerable amount of time trying to leverage a variety of SCADA products, and finally concluded it was far better to use software development tools and a disciplined approach to building our product. This approach also avoided all of the punitive licensing fees relating to the number of tags, computers, customer sites, Internet clients, etc.

Good luck with your project.

there seem to be some bugs in the scadapro software which need to be taken care of. For example, I cannot control my datascan devices from my client pc.

Despite having our support guy on site to help us sort this out, we did not manage to get the system to work. At least not for more than two days. Apparently, the software needed to be updated. Kept working on it for a couple of days before I decided to start over from scratch. It didn't take long to realize a major mistake on my behalf: comma's are not considered to be alphanumerical. A typical channel tag would read "MP 1, FZ". So I changed this and now the system works pretty much flawlessly.
