How do you guys weld structural roof purlins end to end, or join them, I have done it with stick welding for years and I am sure this is not the best method, specially with 1/16" gage purlin, it takes a lot of time on my projects

RE: purlin welding

Uh, buy longer ones?

Great idea!

RE: purlin welding

I thought that the typical method was to overlap them and fasten with self-drilling screws.  If you need to come up with an already proven system I would start with Hilti.  They have already been trough all of that and their reps have been helpful in providing calcuations and information for thier systems for engineering approval.

Thanks, I will find out with Hilti, my designer didn“t want to change the system and I was also investigating spot welding but the equipment is too heavy and unsafe to hendle at 12 meters high.
