Mirrored Taps Question

Mirrored Taps Question

Mirrored Taps Question

(OP)
Not sure if this question has appeared on this forum before, but has anyone noticed that if you mirror taps it does not add them to the quantity in the drawing hole callout? Maybe we are using it the wrong way but since we have been using SW we have had to find little work arounds because the hole callout does not count the mirrored taps. We mentioned it to our VAR and they said it shouldn't do that and they have never seen that happen before, and they are contacting SW about it.

Has anyone else noticed this? I can't imagine there is an SPR out on it because we first noticed it 3 versions ago. Maybe we're just doing something wrong... :S

Thanks for the help!
Anne :)

RE: Mirrored Taps Question

It isn't limited to taps because it happens with other holes here also.  Hole Callouts on drawings seem to ignore mirrored holes.

RE: Mirrored Taps Question

I never mirror taps. I edit the hole and copy the points to where I need them.

RE: Mirrored Taps Question

It works fine for me in SW2005.

Which version are you using?

I usually don't mirror taps either, but for instance, if I'm working on a tubular weldment with end plates, and I create the first plate with 4 hole wizard taps, then mirror the end plate (taps and all) to the other end, in the drawing the hole callout will only call out 4. From what I keep hearing, it sounds like this has been around for a while. Just seems like a pain.

RE: Mirrored Taps Question

Does it depend on whether you're using geometry pattern or feature pattern?

RE: Mirrored Taps Question

The Hole Table reports the correct quantities. (SW06-SP4.1)

RE: Mirrored Taps Question

I believe that a part with tapped holes is being mirrored.  If it is, I have run into something similar while trying to create a drawing of a mirrored part.   I could not get callouts for the tapped holes.  I found this thread which seems to be related thread559-126196.

RE: Mirrored Taps Question

If you mirror the thds, don't forget to use left-handed hardware.tongue
