PDMWorks & SolidWorks Properties

PDMWorks & SolidWorks Properties

PDMWorks & SolidWorks Properties

(OP)
If anyone uses PDMWorks, and heavily uses configuration specific custom properties, you might know the answer to my question.
We have part/assy files, with many configurations, and each configuration could contain a few custom properties.  We have about 200 custom properties to draw from (we manufacture motors, and like to have searchable parameters for a given part family).  These custom properties are stored in a file called "properties.txt"
The problem is that PDMWorks has it's own set of custom properties.  When we search under properties in PDMWorks, it's not looking at properties from the "properties.txt" file.
So, It seems like the only way to link the two sets is to manually add properties to PDMWorks, then manually link them to SolidWorks custom properties.
1. Anyone know of a way to bulk-add properties to PDMWorks?
2. Is there a way to automate the linking of properties between the two programs?
Thanks.

RE: PDMWorks & SolidWorks Properties

jdg268,

I think you might be looking for is to map solidworks properties to PDMWorks properties. To do this you have to be the PDM Admin and then go to Properties-Property mappings-then load from file. Select a part, assembly or drawing to import the solidworks properties from that file.

Best Regards,
Jon
