Mate errors with flexible sub-assy's

Mate errors with flexible sub-assy's

I am having trouble mating a flexible sub assy into a higher level assy.  The part is a simple spherical rod end that is constrained point-point at the center of the psherical ball.  When this part is inserted into another assy and made flexible I can only apply one mate then it stops responding, it is still not fully contrained but no other mates will work.  Has anyone else had similar troubles?  Any suggestions?

RE: Mate errors with flexible sub-assy's

Are you saying no plane mates will work either?  If so, perhaps try mating the assembly as a non-flexible assembly and then making it flexible after pinning everything down.

Also make sure no other mates were inferred & assigned when inserting the sub-assy.

RE: Mate errors with flexible sub-assy's

You might also have to break-up your tie rod model, and place the halves in other sub-assys.  Then in the top level, apply your mates to get it to work properly.

Thanks all for the reply's.  Theophilus' reply re pinning everything down as non-flexible then switching worked.
