Auger Cast Piles

Auger Cast Piles

Auger Cast Piles

(OP)
I currently have a project where the site geology and/or construction practices have warranted the Soils Engineer to recommend auger cast piles. I am looking for some information on this type of foundation system having not used them priorly. The Soils Engineer I hired was a "never used before" firm for me and is somewhat sketchy on the design parameters for these piles in their report and a subsequent addendum asked for by me (in other words he was no help).

RE: Auger Cast Piles

Alternates to using a deep foundation include the use of Geopiers.  These are shallow rammed aggregate foundations that aer installed below your footings.  Depending on loads and soil conditions, this is can be cost effective when compared to deep foundations.  If deep foundations are a requirement, the previous information is all good.  Highly recommend contacting a contractor to assist with detailing the reinforcement and for understanding the installation procedures and limitations.
