Help with disconnected elements

Help with disconnected elements

Help with disconnected elements

(OP)
I have been working on FEA of differentail box using ANSYS. I have meshed the box using 2d elmenet Shell93. After my analysis my back plate is disconnected. I tried to concatenate areas, its not working.

Can anybody give me some suggestions this problem can be solved.

Thanks for your help

Rajesh

RE: Help with disconnected elements

Rajesh,
Concatenating areas (ACCAT command) is meant specifically for meshing.  I'm having a tough time visualizing what you're trying to do exactly so some clarification would be helpful.  If you have nodes which are coincident you could try the NUMMRG command which will merge them into one.  Or another idea may be to use some sort of coupling.

RE: Help with disconnected elements

Sounds like your areas don't have coincident lines.  Plot the lines to confirm.  If the keypoints are close enough together, the nummrg,kp command should clear things up.

Thank a lot guys. nummrg,kp command solved the problem.
Thanks Brian and TGS4. I have just registered in this forum and impressed with your help.

Cheers
Rajesh.

RE: Help with disconnected elements

I think you didn't do some boolean operations before meshing. Boolean operations can make lines coincident
