NX3: setting ugii_patdir, or whatever...
NX3: setting ugii_patdir, or whatever...
(OP)
Howdy, again...
On a laundry list of items for me to do, I need to set up a 'standard library' which includes drawing format pattern data. From what I can tell, I need to set the ugii_patdir so NX3 knows where to retrieve the pattern data from. ...so how do I do this, or do I even need to do this (as in is there a better approach to take?)?
As always, thanks in advance...

I solved my little problem, albeit not the way you suggested (I didn't think NX3 used the .def file as previous versions have...). We only use windows, so I added a system variable (<my comp> <properties> <advanced> <environment variables> <UGII_PATDIR = whatever directory you choose>) defining the pattern directory. Once others define this variable, it's good to go. Thanks for the suggestion...

Keep in mind, NX still uses the ugii_env.dat file that Eric pointed out. I believe you were confusing that with Customer Defaults, which have been integrated into NX sessions now.
I've asked about getting rid of all text based files and I believe that something is in the works to address the .dat files that are still being used. Hoping UGS makes it more like the Customer Defaults so we can get away from this late 80's/early 90's text-based defaults. Would be nice if every single setting in NX could be found under a single dialog instead of having one for Style, one for Customer Defaults, etc., etc.
I know, wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first... ;o)

The more things change, the more things stay the same.
In pre-V10 versions of UG, the customer defaults were set from within UG and we submitted enhancemnt requests to have them moved to editable text files. Now with NX3+, it seems that want the customer defaults back under the program's control.
