Drawing Template Link Conventions....
Drawing Template Link Conventions....
(OP)
I would like some advice on drawing template conventions:
1. What items do you typically link to the drawing?
2. What items are typically linked to the model?
Should I be pulling the rev off of the model or should I be setting it in the drawing file?
I would just like to do this correctly the first time.
Thanks
Tim

Today I have it set up like this:
Linked to Model:
Title
Material
Weight
Linked to Drawing:
Drawn By
Drawn Date
Checked By
Checked Date
Approved By
Approved Date
I am unsure on the REV at this point where to link it to.

Everything checked into PDMWorks will have the following properties added to it: Number, REV, Project, Author, and Status if you are using a revision scheme that warrants it.
I would also consider having a modelled by or engineered by on the model. You also might want to consider a finish applied to the model if you build things that have many different finish options. Then you can link the finish to the drawing when the model is placed in it.

It's easy enough with PDMWorks to keep all the same information on both the drawing and model. The PDMWorks check-in screen allows the user to simply highlight a column and apply a single values to all fields in that column.
