Vendor list

Vendor list

(OP)
Is there a way to create a common vendor list that can be used for selection while filling in BOM information. I don't know if I'm doing it right but it works, I'm filling in the information in the configuration settings and inserting items as custom configurations and using description with the text option and vendor with the text option and then typing the information in every time. A selection list would be a nice thing to have, any help is appreciated.

Thanks

RE: Vendor list

We do this with custom properties like you do, but we've implemented a macro with user forms that is linked to a database with our common custom property data (vendors, materials, surface treatments, etc) that really speeds input of all information for each of our parts, whether purchased or fabricated.  If you don't relish the idea of writing your own macro I think there are several commercially available packages to help automate the editing of custom properties.

RE: Vendor list

A free property editor that you may want to try out is SwProp2.  You can customize lists and other things to company standards. There is also swCP3, but I found SwProp2 easier to edit because it uses an .ini file, where-as swCP3 uses an .xml file for the props, and I honestly couldn't modify it easily.
