Drilling - Mud system

Drilling - Mud system

Drilling - Mud system

(OP)
Can anyone tell me is there a difference between reserve tanks and floc tanks? If anyone has a link of a detailed description of a mud system on a rig I would greatly appreciate it. Where does the clean fluid go after the floc tank? (possibly the reserve pit?)

Thanks,

RE: Drilling - Mud system

I have never heard of the reserve tank being refered to as a floc tank. It seems to me it would be the same thing. Usually the fluid that comes back from downhole is run over the shale shakers, the debris from the shakers then goes to the reserve tank. Debris from the mud pits can also be routed to the reserve pit as well. From the mud pit you can go to a mud mixer, mud hopper, or directly to the mud pumps. It all depends on your rigs setup. I am trying to find a few drawings I could send you.
