What is typically used as a main feed off a generator unit?

Basically, there is a 1MVA generator followed by a 600-4160V step up transformer.  I have to install a disconnecting means to feed a mine distribution system.

What typically is used for this? It has been suggested to use a S&C 5kV fused disconnect along with a Toshiba 5kV Vaccuum contactor.  Also it has been requested that a multilin relay be used for GF.

Are there any conceerns I should watch out for when dealing with generators?

TULUM

RE: 1MVA Generator

Several MV systems similar to this that I have worked on (for tunnel-digging projects) used a recloser with protective relaying, and a pilot-wire system to verify grounding in the cable. I think Pemco was the name of the pilot-wire system manufacturer.
