thanks for the input guys,VE1BLL s suggection of removeing the batteries makes sence.cbarn24050 suggests i convert a normal relay,if so how to would be apreciated(im ex aircraft electrician but dont have the knowledge you guys do.Logbook you are working on similar design is there anything else i can do.I just need the simplest method to supply a 12volt 5amp supply to a load during daylight hours. thanks

The bit about removing the batteries was not a serious suggestion, it was a bit if an exaggeration meant to succinctly highlight a point (hyperbole).

You'll most likely be needing the batteries, but I don't agree with your proposed system archtecture (the 4 amp bit).
