Question about Reference Book for CE PE Test

Question about Reference Book for CE PE Test

Question about Reference Book for CE PE Test

(OP)
Hi,

I'm going to be taking the CE PE test either this fall or in April of 2007. I have the Civil Engineering Reference Manual for the PE Exam by Lindeburg.  However it's the 7th edition (I purchased it about 6 years ago when I first decided to take the CE test, but did not have the time to prepare for the test, so I put it off).

My question is:  Should I get the latest edition of the Lindeburg reference manual (10th edition)?  Or would the 7th edition be adequate?  I've looked online at the 10th edition on amazon.com - the table of contents hasn't changed a lot.  I realize that the book probably references newer standards, etc., but would this justify the cost of buying the 10th edition?

Thanks for your help!

RE: Question about Reference Book for CE PE Test

transportation and structural have probably changed but if you're not taking those depth exams in the afternoon then you will probably never know the difference.  Morning breadth questions don'e get that detailed.

I'm going to take the structural exam in the afternoon, so maybe I should get the latest edition.  Thanks for the info sam74, it was very helpful.

RE: Question about Reference Book for CE PE Test

I would definately get the 10th edition.  On structural the load factors have changed and tis is followed through with the 10th edition.  I think you can cut the cover fo the 7th edition and you can get the 10th for 1/2 off at the ppipass.com site.

Thanks for your reply Abutler.  I looked on the ppipass.com site and I can't find where they were offering the 10th edition for 1/2 off as you mentioned.  Can you give me a link to the page that has this offer?  Thanks!
