Question about the initial stress condition in ABAQUS

Question about the initial stress condition in ABAQUS

Question about the initial stress condition in ABAQUS

(OP)
As we know, we set the parameters Ko in abaqus to control the initial stress condition(horizontal stress and vertical stress). my problem is whatever Ko values you use. when you get the inital condition stress ditribution, i mean check the distribution of vertical stress and horizontal stress, the ratio always gives me unity (horizontal stress/ vertical stress=1). does any one else meet this sorts of problems. if you did, please give me some tips. Thanks a lot.

Thanks.

Hongwei

RE: Question about the initial stress condition in ABAQUS

Hallo 7609010,

For using initial gravity load, I always use:

*INITIAL CONDITIONS,TYPE=STRESS,GEOSTATIC
 EBODY,-21.,0.,-1.,1.,0.5

The last number (0.5) show the K0-value. And I found the intial condition of horizontal/vertical stress ratio is correct, exactly 0.5.

hope this could help.
