Experience using Inventor after being used to Solid Edge?

Experience using Inventor after being used to Solid Edge?

(OP)
Hi!

I've been using Solid Edge for two and a half years now, and I must say that I'm very good with it. But the other day I received I job offer from a company who use Inventor. I know that Inventor is capable of doing a lot of things similar to SE but I would like to have some input from someone who actually worked with both softwares. Is the workflow very different? Is there important things missing in Inventor compared to SE. Or I will be able to do everything I was used to do. (Of course not in the exact same way but still...).

So before considering the job offer carefully I want to be sure that the software won't be a problem.

Thanks in advance.

Patrick

Hi Patrick!

Get them to change to SE (just joking).

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with Inventor but you might want to take the new features of V19 into account when you compare the two.

RE: Experience using Inventor after being used to Solid Edge?

i worked for an autodesk reseller as their technical consultant.

I like Inventor and find it a lot easier to work with.  Solid Edge has some great features for plastic moulding and mounting.  It has many specific tools that create features that would require more then one tool in Inventor.  I find Solid Edge a bit confusing compared to Inventor.  Also very fussy.
