Converted user from Solid Edge to Inventor?

Converted user from Solid Edge to Inventor?

Converted user from Solid Edge to Inventor?

(OP)
Hi!

I've been using Solid Edge for two and a half years now, and I must say that I'm very good with it. But the other day I received I job offer from a company who use Inventor. I know that Inventor is capable of doing a lot of things similar to SE but I would like to have some input from someone who actually worked with both softwares. Is the workflow very different? Is there important things missing in Inventor compared to SE. Or I will be able to do everything I was used to do. (Of course not in the exact same way but still...).

So before considering the job offer carefully I want to be sure that the software won't be a problem.

Thanks in advance.

Patrick

Take a look at the "Just to let you know" subject a few lines down.  There's quite a bit of discussion about the two.

RE: Converted user from Solid Edge to Inventor?

The main difference between SE and IV is that SE allows you to work with open sketches/features. This doesn't work in IV. Personally I am a favourite of fully constrained and closed sketches anyway.

All other features are similar and with 2,5 years of experience you will intuitevely notice similarities

Unigraphics NX4,NX3,NX2,R17
Inventor 10,9,8,7
Solid Edge 10,9,8
Solid Works 2000,98
Mechanical Desktop 4,3
Autocad 2004DX,2000,R14, R12
Teamcenter 9
