I need to find out what is the best equation to use to determine the thickness of a rectangular supoorting base that is 220 inches by 110 inches that can carry a load of 20,000lbs. Thanks everyone

Concrete, tubular steel, channel steel, cargo net, timbers, ice, etc.    Not sure what your specific requirements are; however, I can think of lots of possible numerical solutions that may or may not be suitable for your problem.

i need to figure out what is cheapest. the rectangular base will sit flat on the floor without any beams supporting it from below. I'm thinking probably steel.

What kind of load?-- concentrated, distrubuted?

If it's evenly distributed, that's about 120 lb/sqft load on the floor, so it better not be above ground floor.

Also, note that 1-inch thick steel plate that size is already about 7,000 lb, bringing the total load up to about 160 lb/sqft on the flooring.
