What AWWA Code is "equivalent" to B31.3?

What AWWA Code is "equivalent" to B31.3?

What AWWA Code is "equivalent" to B31.3?

(OP)
Guys I apologize for the x-post but I thought some of you pipe and process-heads might, who don't normally frequent the target forums (civil engineer winky smile ), know the answer to this...

Is there an AWWA design code for the design of water distribution systems that does the same job as, say, ASME B31.3 does for refinery process piping?  In other words, is there an AWWA code that specifies such design issues as allowable stresses, joint requirements, inspection, testing, supports, flexibility, etc.?

I have seen AWWA M11 but that does not qualify as a code.  Usually, a Code is "statutized" in one's state laws as being a requirement for design.  For example, in Kalifornia, 31.3 is written into the statutes as a requirement that owners of those systems must follow.

Thanks guys!

Thanks!
Pete

RE: What AWWA Code is "equivalent" to B31.3?

not quite what you are looking for, but how about the following AWWA stds:

-C110 Std for Ductile-Iron & Gray-Iron Fittings, 3-in Thru 48-in for Water

-C151 Ductile-Iron Pipe, Centrifugally Cast, for Water

-C200 Steel Water Pipe 6-in & Larger

-C500 Metal-Seated Gate Valves for Water Supply Service

-C509 Resilient Seated Gate Valves

-C651 DisInfecting Water Mains

good luck!

RE: What AWWA Code is "equivalent" to B31.3?

Hi Pete,

There is no AWWA piping CODE.

I guess there is no interest in codifying water.  However, we are working on B31.12 for Hydrogen Piping. Just add the 2o to H2o and you have water.

Regards, with tongue firmly in cheek, John.
