Replacing Part in Drawing?

Replacing Part in Drawing?

Replacing Part in Drawing?

(OP)
I have to very similar parts that I need prints of I already have one completely dimensioned an toleranced. Is there anyway I can keep that format an dimensions and just replace the part? An will it keep references?

RE: Replacing Part in Drawing?

This is only possible if you created one part and then modified it to make the other.  In that case you can:

1. Create a copy of the drawing.
2. Using the File->Open command in SW, choose (not dbl click) the file, then click the "References" button.
3. Replace the first file with the second.

If you've modeled both parts from scratch then you're out of luck.

RE: Replacing Part in Drawing?

If the parts are similar why not just create configurations in the part. Then save the drawing as a new name then reference the new configuration in the new drawing. Or just create a table in the original drawing.  That would depend on your business practices and how your company vaults its MCAD data.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time.
