Can Solidworks do this?
Can Solidworks do this?
(OP)
I've got access to Solidworks but before I invest the time I have a question I have not yet found an answer for.
If I have 2D isometric CAD files, can I import these into SW and then have SW generate any sort of 3D model from them?

RE: Can Solidworks do this?
Now if you had good 1:1 scale ortho views of the part....you could bring that in and use it to help construct the model. Still some work there to be done...nothing quick and easy. No 3d program offers that.

Generally my experience has been that is is much less frustrating and productive to learn SW while using it to do new parts. Working through the tutorial is a good way. Finding a mentor would be very good. There should be a users group near Pittsburgh which could be very helpful.
Several major race teams use SW, you just have to bear with the transition.
