Sprinkler Head Clearances

Sprinkler Head Clearances

Sprinkler Head Clearances

(OP)
We are installing new cable trays in one of our older computer rooms that has a pre-action sprinkler system and a very limited ceiling height.  I realize the clearance under a sprinkler head is 18", but is there a regulation that limits the tray distance from the ceiling if not directly under the sprinkler head?  The cable tray that is being installed is a basket weave, open style tray.  One tray will house network cables (fiber/copper) and the other is for power.

RE: Sprinkler Head Clearances

Check into NFPA-13 2002 edition starting a 8.6.5.2, this use to be called the beam blocking rule but has grown much over the last several editions of NFPA.

Hope this helps.
