PDM Works 2006 - Bulk loading

PDM Works 2006 - Bulk loading

(OP)
Using the bulkload tool seems simple enough but one question comes to mind when doing this. After checking the "read from file/attribute" button I'm ready to check in a file BUT ........

Prior to implementing a PDM solution we used discrete file names that include the actual revision in the name to seperate files. Since we won't need the revision in the file name any longer is there a quick and easy way to handle this?? Was thinking that we will need to change it all manually using the SolidWorks Explorer but it seems like a lot of work for the legacy data.

Thanks

RE: PDM Works 2006 - Bulk loading

I would suggest biting the bullet and rename everything, even for Legacy data. If anyone wants the information in the future it would be easier to update now when you know what is going on. We transferred over our data from SmarTeam after we had a layoff. We lost every link. Now when purchasing wants an old drawing, it is always when I am deep into a project. I must stop what I am doing to help them, this take about 20-30 minutes each time. I am glad that we have hard copies of the old drawings. I would guess if we had updated the links when we converted from SmarTeam the time would have been 5 minutes per drawing. Of course we have 1,000s of files. Management did not want to spend 1,000s time 5 minutes to convert.
The only thing we really lost was the where used and the assemblies never open correctly. But then purchasing never asks for an assembly drawing of legacy data.
