Axisymmetric Modal analysis?

Axisymmetric Modal analysis?

Axisymmetric Modal analysis?

(OP)
Hi all,

I am in the process of learning to run an import analysis after a dynamic, in order to run a frequency extraction.  The problem, is the dynamic step is so complex that the model must be axisymmetric.  My question is, can an axisymmetric model be used for a modal analysis or can the axisymmetric model be made 3D to get the right eigenvalues and eigenvectors.

Thanks to all,
Chris

RE: Axisymmetric Modal analysis?

Hi

Take a look at section 10.3.1 in the ABAQUS Analysis Users Manual.  This tells you how to create a 3D mesh from an axisymmetric mesh - might get you what you need smile

Regards

Martin
