GC sampling under vacuum

GC sampling under vacuum

GC sampling under vacuum

(OP)
Hello:

I am trying to build a membrane based bench-top lab scale facility for measuring gas permeabilities and selectivities for mixed gases (90vol% CH4-10%CO2) by keeping permeate side under vacuum. I intend to analyze these gases at permeate side by GC. Since it will be under vacuum, I am wondering how should I do. I need to take a gas sample and then inject it in GC machine. Will someone help me about taking the GC sample from the system under vacuum. Thanks.

Are sampling syringes applicable ?

Yes, samples will be taken by syringes and injected in the GC..

RE: GC sampling under vacuum

Sometime back, to check sterility of nitrogen gas, I developed a sterizable gas bomb with a septum. I used the same septum that is being used in HPLC and GCs. Now there are refined versions of sampling devices that withstand vacuum and sterilization pressure from NovAseptic called NovaSeptums. Check their website www.novaseptic.com

I feel it is better to make one inhouse.
