changing ordinate dims displayed as chain dimensions

I have several drawings that ordinate dimensions are suited for.  However, SW insists on defaulting to showing them as chain dimensions with arrows and lines and such.  I don't want this.  I want ordinates to default to not show as chain dimensions, but I can't find anywhere to set this default.  Can anyone help?

Thanks a bunch.

You have change the template you are starting off with. Open a new part and change the option per the document properties and resave the template.

That's just it.  I can't find that option anywhere, but it comes up as a checkbox when right clicking on the dimension in a drawing.  I don't know if it even exists or if it exists only as an .ini file line or a registry entry.

I'm hoping the option exists period.

Okay, followup for anyone who might stumble upon this.  My default detailing scheme was set to ISO, which defaults to chained ordinates.  ANSI detailing does not.  Switched to that and all is good.
