Single Line Font

(OP)
Looking for a solution that will allow me to use Font as single lines for machining purposes.  Every font in solidworks comes in with outlines.  My CNC programmers hate this, because it requires extra programming and machining time.  Anybody else with this issue and what have you done /used to help with this issue?

Thanks.

RE: Single Line Font

The only way I have found is either draw the text or send it DXF to the machine.

RE: Single Line Font

SW uses windows font and all windows fonts have mass to each letter. If you need single line text you will probably have to follow Chris's advice.

RE: Single Line Font

There are TrueType fonts out there that do not have a related thickness.  Look for:

Simplex
SWSimp
SWMono
SWTxt

RE: Single Line Font

All the above text become outline when using text tool.  As Scott has stated before this a limitation of SWX as we are integrated with windows.  I told my guy to stop complaining and do it in the CAM side.

RE: Single Line Font

CamWorks from http://www.teksoft.com/ has a font (CamWorks.ttf) which remains single line. I cannot post a link here for copyright reasons (my wrist is still stinging from the last time) but you may be able to find a download source if you search the web. Better yet, try contacting TekSoft to see if a copy can be obtained from them.

cheers
