Class II Div 2 and Dust tight

Class II Div 2 and Dust tight

Class II Div 2 and Dust tight

(OP)
We are renovating a room that has been classified Class II, Division 2. I have asked my collegues about certain items on similar applications that did not have a Class II certification, but were considered dust-tight. (Such as data connections). Their opinion is that dust-tight (gasketed) items were OK to use in this application.

My understanding (which may be incorrect) is that CL II Div 2 is to be dust-tight, but just because an enclosure is dust-tight, it is not necessarily Class II Div 2.

Thanks!

RE: Class II Div 2 and Dust tight

For Class II Div II, you need dust-tight.

I think it needs to meet UL 1604.
