RE: firetube,steam boiler,designing software?

rousta,

What are "professional" fire tube boilers ? How are they any different from regular, ordinary fire tube boilers ?

Most people are not starting new companies to design boilers..... so I would suppose that there would be a limited market for such software.....

Some people offer software that would "RATE " an existing boiler's performance. This may be what you are looking for...

See if you can obtain a copy of Australian standards AS1797 design of fire tube boilers. The appendix section for tube sheet temperature calculations gives excellent references on literature refereeing to fire tube boiler design. Alternativly i could scan the page and emial it to you.

RE: firetube,steam boiler,designing software?

I am also looking for design information on firetube heaters. Not necessarily firetube boilers, but what are normally called indirect fired heaters. These use a firetube to heat water or glycol. A coil is suspended in the water or glycol and a second fluid is heated in the coil. I am chiefly looking for software but just any info on how to design the heater would help. API has a specification on it, 12K I believe, but it doesn't go into much detail on how to calculate the heat transfer.
