Hydraulic Ports
Hydraulic Ports
(OP)
Hey, I'm trying to set up an easy way to insert hydraulic ports (SAE, SUN, etc) into custom manifold blocks. My end goal is to basically have something I can drag drop and constain. Here's some ideas I had, but don't know how to implement.
- Custom Hole wizard sketch/profile
- Library feature
- Some very awesome person willing to share or show me where to find all these features already created.
I tried creating library features for a couple ports using a revolved cut referenced off of a sketch plane and a point; however, when I insert it into a manifold block, it sometimes says it cannot be placed. Thanks for any help you can give. I'd also appreciate any links to hydraulics in solidworks reference material. Thanks!

RE: Hydraulic Ports
With the library features I make, how can i reference them so I can insert them on any plane or face? I've tried making several parts, but I can't get them to place. Any example parts?
Thanks.

RE: Hydraulic Ports
We have 1 each controlled by a design table for the SAE ports, BSPP ports, and autoclave ports.
Each SUN cavity is its own separate library feature.
Creating library features can be confusing, but by dissecting an original, you get to see how SW handles them.

FYI, BSPP threads are already in the Hole Wizard. Go to the Tapped Hole section, for the Standard choose DIN, for Type choose Straight Pipe Tapped Hole, and then you'll see a list of available "G" size holes.

But our library features also include a required minimum spotface and lead-in chamfers (per ISO 228-1, BS 2779), as well as the ability to include an additional drill to a chosen depth for "connection" purposes.
