JL Analyzer, Mesh Difficulties among other things...
(OP)
Hi there,
I am a degree quilified Mech engineer in Newcastle Aus.
My company bought an full version of JL Analyzer, and i have used it on and off for the last 2 years
is it just me or is it pretty much useless?
i seem to be able to model beams and things like that, but for the amount of time it takes to model i may as well do it by hand...
not only that, but the modelling is tricky as all buggery
and once i get say, a simple bracket getting the meshing consistant is pretty much impossible
bugging the bejesus out of me, i have done all the tutorials and still cant seem to do things successfully
i used Strand7 pretty extensively for my final year project at uni, and at least with strand7 if a mesh didnt look right you could fill in the gaps manually
anyway, im just wondering if there are any tips out there
or anyone who finds this software useful :D

RE: JL Analyzer, Mesh Difficulties among other things...
Judging by this statement
"When a framework is subjected a set of external loads, there are two conditions that must be met in order for the structure to provide support:
The frame must be stable
The set of applied actions must be put into equilibrium by a sufficient number of external constraints, i.e., the structure is statically determinate. "
on their website I have no great confidence in their theoretical knowledge.
The average table is statically indeterminate and seems to cope just fine at supporting loads.

Greetings
Have used JLanalyser for a couple of years (to check stress distribution in shells): very quirky: manual is rubbish: took about three months to get the hang of it..
It does work and like all programmes you have to get into the mind of the programmer to make it work.
Cheap and cheerful! but it does work!

but i have so much trouble getting it to mesh from say,
a cylinder to a rectangular plate
but i am doing it all as solid, maybe thats asking too much from it
