Thanks,
Finally I have turn out right to generate a model with crack with CAE. For a suitable J value ( and also T stress, etc.) is need to rafine the mesh in front of the crack.
The way is to work on each regions of surface partition near the crack front ?

regards,
udar

RE: Crack with ABAQUS/CAE

Hi,

I'm working on a C(T) model using ABAQUS/CAE and I've defined a crack following the instructions present in this brief http://www.abaqus.com/solutions/tb_pdf/TB-04-FMCAE-1.pdf.
I'm using a half-3D model (quarter actually due to simmetry).
I have a problem with the mesh at the crack tip. It's written that after creating the crack and singularity (I don't have the seam because of half-model) ABAQUS/CAE creates automatically collapsed elements with correct connectivity definitions. It doesn't happen! Do I miss anything?

Thanks in advance.

Chris
