Low Friction Coating

Low Friction Coating

Low Friction Coating

(OP)
I have an application that calls for an aluminum ring oscillating on axis in a circular alumnimum track by about 15 degrees.  the forces are low but the ring will oscillate at up to 30Hz, the parts are about 2" in diameter, .050" thick.  Right now I am using regular anodizing for a coating.  Is there a coating out there that will provide better wear resistance and lower friction at a comparable price?  Does anyone have information on Diamond like Carbon coatings and how they compare to hard ano?

RE: Low Friction Coating

Teflon impregnated hardcoat anodize.

Take a look at General Magniplate for other options.

RE: Low Friction Coating

MintJulep gave a good suggestion for reduction friction.  Another consideration is for plasma oxidation coatings, like Microplasmic:

or KEPLA-COAT:

For diamond-like coatings, here is a good source:

http://www.diamonex.com/products_dlc.htm

Friction coefficient and hardness for both anodizing and DLC can be near each other, but DLC should have better performance.
