Moving SW *.sldprt to Adobe 3D w/ 3d Annotations
Moving SW *.sldprt to Adobe 3D w/ 3d Annotations
(OP)
I've tried to "drag and drop" a *.sldprt file complete with 3d annotations to Adobe 3D, but it only brings in the model - not the 3d anno. Is there a trick to this or is it just not an option?

I guess, a more appropriate question would be this... How are others sharing the Y14.41 compliant models and annotations? I don't feel comfortable sending the .sldprt files and I would prefer to not make the vendors download yet another free viewer such as edrawings...

I can't find a way to export the PMI/3D anno out of SW06.

Just Click on Publish to Edrawing from Solid Works than save it as .exe file. It is a very nice option in SolidWorks which we just recently discovered.
I hope this helps :)

Thanks. That certianly sounds like something I'd like to look into. I appreciate the tip. I never knew that option was there. Great stuff.

If your vendor truly values you as a customer they won't think twice about getting themselves set up with another viewer. Depending on their customer base, they may already have the E-drawings viewer.
RE: Moving SW *.sldprt to Adobe 3D w/ 3d Annotations
I tried to save the eDrawings file as an exe; everything worked great, but another question did come up. It appears that in eDrawings the 3d Anno (...I'll just call it PMI from here on out...) stays at a fixed distance and font size... Instead of dynamically changing like when the sldprt file is viewed in SW. Is there a way to make this happen in eDrawings?
Thanks for all the help...
